blake rushing theatre dance

Mark it in a calendar! December 31 brings an awesome opportunity for kiddos who are interested in the acting/theatre world!

Blake Rushing takes his talents to the stage at Art Centre Theatre (ACT) for classes geared toward teaching young artists different aspects of the art of being an actor. What the youngsters can look forward to: physical stretches/exercises that enhance vocal clarity; an introduction to the world of voice-over acting; a brush up on Shakespeare; learn and perform a musical theatre dance combo (or two); discuss preparations if he/she wishes to attend college for Acting or Musical Theatre.

Blake Rushing is a choreographer from Dallas and has had a love for musical theatre since he was a little boy. He has trained as a dancer, singer and actor for more than a decade and is currently attending the American Musical and Dramatic College and Conservatory of Performing Arts for Musical Theatre in New York City. Blake’s main goal as he teaches his students is to strongly encourage them to practice and work really hard, but to always have a ton of fun. He’s been quoted saying, “Practice doesn’t make perfect, but it makes almost perfect.”

This New York Theatre Workshop is from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. with a special show for the parents at 2:45 p.m, and is available for those ages 10 and older. The kids need to bring a folder, pencil, comfortable clothes and a sack lunch. Flip flops are not recommended since there will be a ton of physical activity.
