Plano and Frisco offer the best patios for outdoor dining this fall
There’s nothing quite like dining al fresco, and with the sweltering days of summer behind us, now is the perfect time to embrace and enjoy the outdoors on some of the top patios in Plano and Frisco.
So where do we recommend you dine outdoors this fall?
If you’re in the mood for burgers and BBQ, or rather, really good burgers and BBQ, then look no further than Hickory Plano by Iron Chef America winner Kent Rathbun. Their signature burger blend of chuck, brisket and short ribs makes their burgers unforgettable, meanwhile their BBQ, such as the Wagyu brisket is an absolute delight for the tastebuds. Enjoy it all outside on their beautiful terrace, indulging in a signature cocktail, while taking advantage of the beautiful Plano weather, and you’ve got all you need for a delightful afternoon, evening, or both! With an outdoor fireplace and patio heaters, this is one patio you can enjoy all year round.

Step onto the patio of Bonnie Ruth’s in Frisco and you’ll feel like you’ve been transported to Paris. The quaint courtyard bursts with character; from the outdoor fireplace perfect for cold winter evenings, to the canopy of lights creating the illusion of a starry night sky. With everything from the finest French pastries, traditional onion soup, the classic crepe and delicious garlic escargot, the patio at Bonnie Ruth’s is perfect for lunch with friends or a romantic evening with a loved one. Bonnie Ruth’s was voted Best Patio in Plano Profile’s Best Eats 2015, and it’s easy to see why!

We love the vibe on the terrace at One2One. It’s spacious, relaxed and their chill-out music is just perfect. Meanwhile, as their tagline “one place for every taste” suggests, One2One really does have a great variety with something for everyone; from their Popcorn Shrimp voted Best Appetizer in Plano Profile’s Best Eats contest to the more unusual items such as Wild Boar Ribs and Kobe Meatloaf. Although if you’re relaxing on the terrace on a sunny fall day, one of their wood fired pizzas and a cold beer would be perfect. Or maybe you’d like to try a Flyin’ Hawaiian cocktail, also a past winner in our Best Eats competition.

Mama Mia! Trattoria Al Giardino has a fabulous patio! An oasis complete with water feature, pergola and traditional Roman columns, you might not be able to fly to Italy this fall, but at Trattoria Al Giardino you can relax in an Italian garden. A multi-award winner in Plano Profile’s Best Eats competition, Trattoria Al Giardino this year won Best Happy Hour, Best All-Around Favorite, Best Italian Restaurant, Best Wine Bar and Best Place to Take a Client…just to name a few. So next time you have a craving for a good pizza, pasta or cannoli, think of Trattoria Al Giardino and give their patio a try!

It’s October, and that means Oktoberfest. Where better to celebrate this traditional beer-drinking festival than at the award-winning Bavarian Grill? Oktoberfest also happens to mean Schnitzelfest… and with an extensive Schnitzelfest menu of 28 schnitzels, there’s something for everyone! Why not try the Wildschwein Schnitzel “Schönau” (Wild Boar Schnitzel topped with Glühwein, lingonberry and wild mushroom sauce), or the limited edition HACKER PSCHORR OKTOBERFEST beer before it’s too late? This fall, Plano’s best German restaurant and bar invites you to relax on their thematic patio or in their traditional biergarten,. Enjoy a stein or two of good German beer, live music, and of course some wurst, pretzel and schnitzel! Prost!

If outdoor dining is your thing, a few other great options are Taverna Rossa and Patrizio’s. Taverna Rossa took third place for Best Patio in our Best Eats contest this year, while our readers voted Patrizio’s into second. Artin’s is another great spot for eating al fresco, as is Del Frisco’s Grille with their unique sunken patio, both at Shops at Legacy. Another favorite with a fantastic patio is Buffalo Bluez – if you haven’t tried their boneless buffalo wings you don’t know the joy you’re missing! Meanwhile, a great newcomer patio is Smoke; the food is great and the patio is rustic, chilled and supersized! And finally, although located in Far North Dallas, Spork’s expansive family and dog-friendly patio makes it worth the extra drive. Something else fun but further afield is the new Hula Hut in Little Elm, located on Lewisville Lake. This Tex-Mex has a really cool, casual vibe — not to mention waterfront and a sand patio!
