We love Beard Park in Little Elm. It’s cute, it’s fun and it’s right by a lake so visiting here almost feels like taking a vacation. It really is one of the best Little Elm playgrounds around.

There’s seriously so many things to love about this playground but before I get into the details let me hook you with one thing – margaritas. Really, really good margaritas. While there are no margaritas at the actual playground, this is Texas after all, however, immediately next door to the playground is Los Jalapenos mexican restaurant. And there you will find the most sinfully delicious margaritas. They also have good Mexican food and a nice patio. For our family, a trip to this awesome local playground always begins, or ends, at Los Jalapenos.
Meanwhile the actual playground has a lot of fun features for kids of all ages.
First of all, there’s the treehouse with two slides and multiple climbing features to get up there – including a rope bridge and a boulder. Another fun aspect to the treehouse is that big kids can climb up and hide at the top but there is also a little doorway at the bottom that kids of all ages can run through and use as a hideaway.
This playground also includes:
- a mini-tree house and slide
- an additional climbing area with slides
- roundabout
- picnic benches in a shaded pavillion
- a music area
- astroturf flooring
Exploring inside the treehouse The treehouse is a big attraction This cute little “Kids Only” house is one of multiple fun features
If you do choose to visit this park in Little Elm, we recommend that you take the time to venture out of the park and along the trail through the woods. If you turn to the right the trail will lead alongside Hydrous Wake Park where it is so fun to watch the wake boarders. If you keep walking you’ll then reach Hula Hut which is a trendy spot for cocktails and Tex-Mex with a nice view of the lake. Although, as mentioned above, if you’re looking for a place to eat or drink before or after a visit to this playground you can’t beat Los Jalapenos which is on the other side of the playground.
There’s a few other things about Beard Park that make it one of the best Little Elm playgrounds:
- for the holidays an “elf village” is build adjacent to the playground. It’s simple but a lot of fun and cute for holiday pictures
- the beach at Little Elm is literally right down the road. Sometimes when we visit this park we combine it with a trip to the beach too. Even if it’s not warm enough to go in the water, the sand is fun to dig and play in and that whole area is gorgeous for a stroll at sunset. Take note that during the summer season, entrance to Little Elm Beach is $10 per car at the weekends and it does get crowded. We actually prefer to go off-season simply because it’s less crowded and without the heat you can relax, stroll and even play on the beach playground (which is too hot in the summer)
- Space Station Playground at McCord Park in Little Elm is also nearby. If you’ve never visited Space Station Playground, click here and you’ll instantly see why we consider it one of the best in the area.
