As summer approaches, the Frisco Water Park is gearing up for an exciting season with several updates to enhance visitor experiences. Announced via the city of Frisco's Facebook page under the hashtag #ProgressinMotion, the park is scheduled to open its gates on Memorial Day weekend.
Since opening in 2008 and expanding in 2015, the Frisco Water Park has been a beloved destination for locals and tourists alike. The park boasts a range of attractions, including a lazy river, slides and play areas with splash features.
With nearly 100,000 seasonal visitors, regular maintenance is crucial to uphold the park's standards. Currently, staff at the Frisco Athletic Center is busy getting the Frisco Water Park ready for visitors. In a video shared on Facebook, Wendy Rosales, assistant recreation services manager, outlined the park's maintenance routine, which includes both preventative measures and annual upkeep.
“We budgeted about $300,000 this year for different projects around the facility, including re-gel coating the inside of our green gusher and blue and white slide,” said Rosales. “We’re currently working on painting the exterior shell of our treehouse slides. We’re providing a coating so that the slides maintain their integrity and that we can prolong the life of all of those attractions.”
Updates to the park include replastering the treehouse pool and installing new nets, original to the play structure introduced in 2015. Additionally, staff will offer swim lessons when the park opens, with 28 lifeguards ensuring visitor safety.
For admission, visitors can choose from membership to the Frisco Athletic Center, splash passes for the summer, or day passes. "Going out and seeing all of these families, making these memories, it’s the greatest,” said Rosales.
The official opening day for the Frisco Water Park is May 25, 2024. Further details about features and operating hours can be found at PlayFrisco.org/WaterPark.
