On April 15, Plano Fire-Rescue Fire Chief Chris Biggerstaff earned the esteemed Chief Fire Officer (CFO) title from the Commission on Professional Credentialing (CPC). This designation, granted during the CPC's meeting, places Chief Biggerstaff among a select group of 1,892 CFOs globally.

The CFO designation marks excellence in seven key areas: experience, education, professional development, contributions to the field, association membership, community engagement and technical competence. Chief Biggerstaff's successful completion of the rigorous peer review process underscores his dedication to the fire and emergency services sector.

This designation remains valid for three years, during which Chief Biggerstaff must continue demonstrating professional development growth, contributions to the field, active association participation and community involvement. Upholding a strict code of professional conduct is also imperative to maintain the CFO status.

Administered by the Commission on Professional Credentialing, a Center for Public Safety

Excellence, Inc. (CPSE) division, the CFO Designation Program comprises experts from academia, federal and local government and the fire and emergency medical services profession.
