Lime Launches E-Scooters In Plano, Texas

Lime e-scooters officially launched in Plano. The new fleet will build upon the city’s micromobility success and expand the options available for residents and visitors.

Lime aims to establish a lasting transportation collaboration with the city of Plano, commencing with the introduction of an initial fleet of 100 electric scooters over the weekend. Lime plans to work closely with the city to gradually expand its fleet to 250 scooters in a well-coordinated manner.

“Lime is excited to partner with the city of Plano to provide residents and visitors with a safe, affordable and sustainable way of getting around town," said David Sedbrook, senior director of government relations at Lime. "We have a proven track record of success in Texas and we’re thrilled to add Plano to our list of Lone Star state cities."

Residents and visitors in Plano can conveniently access these e-scooters through the Lime app or the Uber app platform. This integration ensures that environmentally friendly travel options are readily available and hassle-free for everyone.

"Shared e-scooters help connect people to existing transportation options and provide an economic boost by connecting customers to small businesses," Sedbrook said. "We look forward to bringing our global experience and stability to Plano as we work with the city to envision the future of transportation together."

Lime relaunched their shared e-scooters earlier this year in Dallas and reported ridership has been strong and the program has been safe and organized due to new regulations and renewed partnership with the city. The global leader in shared electric vehicles revealed its latest financial and ridership statistics for the first half of 2023, underscoring the ongoing surge in demand for shared e-bikes and e-scooters worldwide. During this period, Lime recorded gross bookings exceeding $250 million, marking a remarkable 45% surge compared to the corresponding period in 2022.

“Riders around the world are demonstrating strong demand for low-cost, reliable and emissions-free transportation," said Wayne Ting, CEO of Lime, in a press release. "We are encouraged that cities also recognize this as they continue to welcome and expand e-bike and e-scooter programs globally.”
