Collin County continues to experience significant population growth, ranking among the fastest-growing counties in the United States, according to newly released estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau.
The data ranks Collin County fourth in population growth nationwide, following Maricopa County in Arizona, Miami-Dade County in Florida and Harris County in Texas.
How Much Collin County Has Grown
Collin County continues to experience rapid population growth, as shown by new census estimates. Between July 2023 and July 2024, the county's population increased by 46,694 residents, reaching an estimated 1,254,658.
This follows a steady upward trend since the 2020 Census, when the population was recorded at 1,066,331. Over just four years, Collin County has added nearly 200,000 residents, reflecting its strong economic opportunities, quality of life and expanding infrastructure.

Collin County is evolving, transforming cities like Plano and Frisco from mere suburbs of Dallas into thriving economic centers, giving rise to what’s been dubbed DFFW. That's right, the suburbs now have suburbs.
North Texas is booming with major developments reshaping the region. In Frisco, Fields and The Mix are bringing office space, retail and residential areas, while the upcoming Universal Kids Resort adds to the area's attractions.
Beyond development, the region offers PGA championship golf, Legacy Hall’s dining scene and the future Grand Park in Frisco. Dallas and nearby cities continue to draw residents and visitors with top-tier cultural and entertainment options.
With 24 Fortune 500 headquarters and growing corporate investment, North Texas is a hub for high-paying jobs. Cities like Plano are also seeing crime rates drop, reinforcing the area's appeal as a great place to live and work.
How Much More Collin County Will Grow
As Local Profile previously reported, Collin County’s growth shows no sign of stopping. Population data reveals growth across several cities in North Texas from 2023 to 2024. Plano experienced a moderate increase of 2.4%, while Frisco saw robust growth of 10.2%. McKinney followed closely with a 12.3% rise, and Wylie grew by 5.1%. The rapidly expanding city of Prosper reported a staggering 40.6% increase, but most notably, Celina's population skyrocketed by an extraordinary 157.6%. According to Texas Demographic Center projections, by 2060, Collin County will be home to 2,438,008 people — double what is it now.
The analysis determined that the county's population surged by more than 100,000 individuals between 2016 and 2021. In comparison, the adjacent Denton County experienced the second-highest population growth, with an uptick of nearly 79,000 people — a variance of over 20,000 individuals within the same timeframe.
