$142 Million Expansion Planned For Medical City McKinney

Medical City McKinney is preparing for approximately $142 million in construction projects slated to start in 2025. These plans include adding two stories to the hospital's east tower, as well as expanding and renovating various service areas.

The project will add 105,600 square feet of new space, including two additional floors above Medical City Women’s Hospital McKinney. Improvements to women’s services will include six updated labor and delivery suites, two C-section rooms and postpartum suites, aligning their design and amenities with those of the Women’s Hospital, which opened in November.

This expansion will increase capacity in the medical-surgical, step-down and intensive care units, allowing more patients to receive the care they need. It will also feature four new operating rooms, a new post-anesthesia care unit and additional space for day surgery. The hospital's bed count will also increase by 46.

“McKinney is one of the fastest growing cities in the nation and Medical City McKinney is committed to helping meet our region’s need for high-quality healthcare services,” said Medical City McKinney CEO Mark Deno in an official statement. “Our hospital has served this community for more than 100 years and expanding and enhancing facilities and services is another reason our community turns to us as the destination of healthcare excellence.”

This new construction project, anticipated to be completed in 2028, is part of several significant investments at Medical City McKinney. Currently, a $50 million medical office building is under construction, with an expected completion date in the summer of 2025.

Medical City McKinney opened a $17 million women’s hospital in November 2023 and a $64 million patient tower that includes an ER expansion in December 2021. These expansion initiatives are part of Medical City Healthcare's broader capital investment strategy, which encompasses over $1.5 billion in improvements across the Medical City Healthcare system over five years.
