The Best New Experiences Of 2024 In Frisco, Plano, The Colony And Beyond

Butterfly Rest Stop by Janet Echelman

As the start of a new year quickly approaches, there are many things to look forward to. But before the year ends, you still have time to treat yourself to some of the best experiences that opened in North Texas in 2024.

Previously, Local Profile highlighted the best experiences of the year. While those remain outstanding, this guide focuses on the top new experiences that debuted in 2024. Take a dip in one of WorldSprings' many mineral-rich hot springs, or watch your favorite teams compete on an 87-foot screen at Cosm. Coming into the new year, there’s no limit to new and great things to do.

Here’s Local Profile’s curated list of the best new experiences:

Cosm Dallas

5776 Grandscape Blvd, The Colony

Why It’s Included: Everything is bigger in Texas, and that includes TVs. Cosm is home to an 87-foot dome screen to watch anything from college football to big league games. It really feels like you’re in the stadium — even better, it feels like you’re on the field.

Fireside Surf

5772 Grandscape Blvd., The Colony

Why It’s Included: With a cool, resort-like vibe, Fireside Surf will get you riding gnarly waves — and if you don’t know how, they can teach you! (Even complete beginners can make serious progress in just one session.) When you’re not hanging ten, munch on some seriously delicious eats, like Fireside wagyu sliders, crispy coconut shrimp and yellowfin ceviche, and sip on mai tais and frozen roses, the last of which is aptly named the “frose.” Fireside Surf is like being transported to a tropical resort, minus the jet lag.

Kaleidoscope Park

6635 Warren Parkway Frisco

Why It’s Included: The eagerly-awaited Frisco park is six acres with a playground for children, a performance lawn for events and a dog park for furry friends. But here, the focus isn't just nature — it's also art. The park’s focal point, Butterfly Rest Stop, is one of Texas's largest outdoor public art installations. The artwork symbolizes the monarch butterfly's migration through the region, changing colors as the sun hits the piece during the day.

PopStroke

5770 Grandscape Blvd., The Colony

Why It’s Included: Tiger Woods’ putt-putt golf experience, PopStroke, has arrived in The Colony, with two 18-hole putting courses, climate-controlled al fresco dining and drinking, and an enclosed playground for the kiddos. The courses were challenging and fun, and we really, really liked the nachos.

WorldSprings

3240 Plano Parkway, The Colony

Why It’s Included: Dip into mineral-rich waters inspired by the hot springs of Kinosaki, Japan; the Blue Lagoon in Iceland; Grutas Tolantongo in Mexico and more. In total, there are 46 pools that take guests all over the world, ranging from 50-degree cold plunges to 104-degree soaks, as well as eight saunas and a 12-room spa. Think Epcot, but for relaxation.

Active Arena

8008 State Highway 121, Suite 103, Frisco

Why It’s Included: High-tech meets sports meets lots and lots of fun. With state-of-the-art technology, experience paragliding, box an AI-powered pugilist, swing for the fences in VR, square off against a robo-goalie or ski on a sim trusted by the U.S. Olympic Ski Team.
