More mosquitoes found with West Nile equals another spray.
Update August 11, 2016: The City of Plano received confirmation of another West Nile Virus infected mosquito at 2400 Maverick Drive. Weather permitting, City crews will spray on Thursday, August 11 beginning at 9 p.m. The spray boundary includes St. Charles Drive (North), Osceola Drive (West), Royal Oaks Drive (South) and Oak Grove Drive (East).
The City of Plano received confirmation of another West Nile-infected mosquito at the location of 1303 Berkeley Court. Weather permitting, City crews will spray on Thursday, August 11 beginning at 9 p.m. Spray locations include Burlington Drive (North), Alma Drive (East), Bluebonnet Trail (South) and Wilderness Trail (West).
The City’s Environmental Health Department urges citizens to stay inside during the spraying, along with any pets or animals. They’re also urging the common prevention practice of the 4 D’s:
Drain standing water in and around your home and neighborhood.
Dusk, daylight and dawn are ideal times that mosquitoes are most active. Limit outdoor activity during these times.
Dress appropriately before going outdoors.
DEET (N, N-diethyl-m-toluamide) is an ingredient to look for when purchasing insect repellent. The use of bug spray is recommended at all times, especially during the day.
