North Texas Food Bank Collects 84,000 Pounds Of Peanut Butter

The North Texas Food Bank (NTFB) announced the results of its 11th Annual Peanut Butter Drive, which took place in September as part of Hunger Action Month. This year’s drive raised nearly $300,000 and collected around 84,000 pounds of peanut butter to support local families and children facing hunger.

For the third consecutive year, the drive expanded to cover all 13 counties served by the NTFB, rallying cities, neighborhoods, businesses, faith-based groups and community organizations to gather peanut butter and raise funds.

The contributions will be distributed through NTFB’s Food 4 Kids backpack program and its network of nearly 500 partner agencies. As a nutritious and shelf-stable food, peanut butter is essential in providing healthy options for individuals facing food insecurity.

“The peanut butter drive is about more than just collecting food; it’s about ensuring that no child in our community goes hungry,” NTFB President and CEO Trisha Cunningham said in an official statement. “We are incredibly grateful for the partnership and support from our community. As we continue to distribute record amounts of food, the contributions from the peanut butter drive are vital in providing nutritious options to the over 287,000 children facing hunger in North Texas.”

During the Peanut Butter Drive Reveal Ceremony on Oct. 22 at NTFB’s Perot Family Campus in Plano, several key contributors were honored for their outstanding efforts. The city of Plano was recognized as the "top city," while Fairview took the title for "top city per capita." NTT DATA earned recognition as the "top company" and Rice Middle School in Plano ISD was named the "top educational organization." The "top faith-based organization" award went to JustServe/Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, with Heritage Ranch in Fairview honored as the "top neighborhood." The community group HungerMitao received the "top community group" distinction.
