Beginning Monday, Sept. 30, 2024, the city of McKinney will introduce Frontier Waste Solutions as its new trash and recycling contractor. Frontier will handle trash, recycling, yard waste and bulky item collections for residents who pay for these services through the city. This change does not apply to residents with only a water account or those living outside city limits.

According to the official statement, the switch to Frontier Waste Solutions follows a routine evaluation, with the company chosen through a competitive bidding process. “We look forward to a strong relationship that includes community involvement and a commitment to providing quality service for our residents and commercial customers,” reads the statement.

As of Oct. 1, residential trash and recycling rates will increase by $1.14, covering curbside services, bulky item pickup, hazardous waste and yard waste collection. Additionally, some collection days will change, and letters have already been sent to those affected. Residents can verify their collection day at McKinneyTexas.org/CollectionDay.

The holiday collection schedule remains the same. Trash and recycling services will not be provided on New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas. If a holiday falls on a weekday, collection will shift to the following day.

For any inquiries regarding service changes, bulky item pickup, or the holiday schedule, residents can contact Frontier Waste Solutions starting Monday, Sept. 30, by phone at 469-444-1555 or email at McKinney@FrontierWaste.com.
