In 2024, the PGA of America launched an exciting district-wide mural design contest for Frisco ISD students, spanning all grades from kindergarten through 12th grade. Fifth grader Annie Jiang won.
This contest invited young artists from across the district to create mural designs for the PGA of America Coaching Center. The contest generated a remarkable response, drawing in over 500 entries from students of all grade levels. Each submission showcased the unique perspectives and talents of Frisco's youth.
From this impressive pool, a panel of judges — including representatives from both the PGA of America and the Omni PGA Frisco Resort — selected 12 finalists whose designs best captured the spirit of the project.
After careful deliberation, the winning design was awarded to Jiang. Her design stood out for its creativity and vision, earning her the top spot among a highly competitive group of young artists.
To bring her winning concept to life, local artist Bristen Phillips from Celina was commissioned to paint the mural. Bristen completed the mural the week of Oct. 28, 2024, with assistance from Jiang, transforming her design into a vibrant and inspiring centerpiece at the coaching center for visitors and students alike to enjoy.
The coaching center is the association’s only signature, state-of-the-art, consumer-facing golf coaching and training facility. The 12,000 sq.ft., two-story facility features 10 hitting bays, and is dedicated to coaching, club fitting and golf fitness. Whether someone wants to refine their swing or enhance their putting skills, the PGA of America lead coaches are available to provide personalized guidance one-on-one or in a group setting.
