In a significant move to support local families in need, the Ebby Halliday Foundation announced that it will triple donations made to the North Texas Food Bank (NTFB) and Tarrant Area Food Bank this holiday season.
From now through Dec. 6, 2024, every contribution made via a dedicated link will be matched, up to $25,000, amplifying the impact of donations and providing essential meals to those facing food insecurity in the region.
According to NTFB, one in six North Texans is food insecure, with more than 777,000 individuals — nearly 287,000 of whom are children — struggling with uncertain access to food. North Texas has the fourth-highest rate of food insecurity in the United States, making this initiative especially crucial as the holiday season approaches.
The Ebby Halliday Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, was established to honor the legacy of its namesake, Ebby Halliday, a renowned real estate leader and philanthropist. Halliday was celebrated not just for her professional achievements but also for her unwavering commitment to community service. Her philosophy of “doing something for someone every day” continues to inspire the Foundation's mission to support organizations that assist women, children and those grappling with food and shelter insecurity.
To date, the foundation has donated over $226,000 to combat hunger, translating into nearly 680,000 meals for North Texans. With this new matching pledge, the Foundation encourages community members to contribute and help make a difference during the holiday season.
