Atmos Energy Donates $100,000 To North Texas Food Bank

This contribution is part of Atmos Energy’s larger $2 million commitment to support food banks across eight states, all in recognition of Hunger Action Month in September. Through its fueling safe and thriving communities initiative, Atmos Energy aims to address food insecurity in communities where it operates.

“Atmos Energy’s generous support is crucial as we work to ensure every North Texan has access to nutritious food,” NTFB President and CEO Trisha Cunningham said  NTFB President and CEO Trisha Cunningham said in an official statement. “With Texas having the highest hunger rates in the nation and our service area ranking fourth in food insecurity, this donation is vital for serving the nearly 778,000 individuals facing hunger in North Texas.”

Atmos Energy has been a dedicated supporter of the NTFB since 2006, contributing nearly $700,000 in donations and consistently organizing volunteer teams from its workforce. In 2023, Atmos Energy collaborated with NTFB to distribute Hunger Bugs Me! — an educational book aimed at teaching children about hunger — to 785 elementary school libraries across 106 North Texas school districts. Their latest $100,000 donation brings Atmos Energy’s impact even further, helping to provide over 2 million meals to those facing food insecurity in North Texas.

“Addressing hunger requires substantial resources, and these funds aim to support food banks that collaborate with local charities, schools, churches and shelters to assist families struggling to meet their basic needs,” Atmos Energy’s Coordinating Manager of Public Affairs Jan Rugg said. “We are proud to partner with the North Texas Food Bank as part of our ongoing commitment to fueling safe and thriving communities.”
