A Plano-based developer has purchased 278 acres of land across two residential subdivisions to build 1,200 new homes.

As reported by Dallas Morning News, Landon Homes has made several land purchases in the past month that will lead to more development in North Texas.

The Plano-based building company, led by John Landon made its first purchase on Dec. 5. The developer bought 363 lots across 104 acres in Fields’ Brookside North subdivision southwest of Fields Parkway and Legacy Drive.

On Dec. 22, 2022, Landon Homes purchased 870 lots on 174 acres in East Village on the other side of the Dallas North Tollway. Consisting of smaller lots, this site is expected to include townhomes in its design.

The land purchases will eventually result in the construction of more than 1,200 homes in Frisco’s Fields, one of the area's largest and most anticipated new communities.

The 2,500-acre Fields development is a project of Dallas’ Hunt Realty Investments and Karahan Cos., which was behind Plano’s Legacy West.

Construction projects in the area will first begin in 2023 with the extension of Legacy Drive and a new street, Fields Parkway.

From there, Brookside North, which consists of 500 lots, and the Preserve, a 267-acre community of multimillion-dollar custom homes, will begin construction in mid-2024.

Construction of the East Village is expected to begin in January 2025.

Frisco Fields is in close proximity to the PGA’s new headquarters, which opened in August, as well as the Omni PGA Frisco resort that is set to open in May.

The golf association anticipates hosting 26 tournaments, including the 2027 and 2034 PGA Championships, in the next 15 years on the property’s two championship courses.

For the past several years, Landon Homes has built communities in cities throughout North Texas, including Argyle, Flower Mound and Rowlett.
