The Festival’s Foreign Film Fundraising event will feature a special screening of an independent film from South Asia from famed singer, musician and composer Arijit Singh. Presented in partnership with Indie Meme, the film chronicles the personal struggles of a young boy in a rural village in West Bengal who learns to overcome his hardships through music. The screening will be preceded by classical Indian music performances and followed by a panel discussion. It is the Festival’s only feature that requires a ticket. Proceeds will benefit the Plano Symphony Orchestra’s music scholarship program, funded by the PSO’s Alice Hobbs Education and Outreach fund, which provides free private music lessons to PISD middle school students who show musical promise and financial need. The special screening and performances begin at 4:00pm in the Courtyard Theater adjacent to Haggard Park. Tickets can be purchased at planosymphony.org, Concerts and Tickets page, under Single Tickets, for $15 per person.

Prior to the film screening, the Festival will again feature their highly anticipated Fitness and Wellness Fair from 10:00am to 1:00pm, sponsored by Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital of Plano. In addition to free flu shots and multiple types of health screenings, Presbyterian Hospital is bringing their mobile mammogram unit for on-site mammograms. Pre-screening is required by calling 214-345-2719.

Other services at the Wellness portion of the Fair, to be held in the Courtyard Theater adjacent to Haggard Park, will include free flu shots for adults and children and free screenings for blood pressure, body mass, bone density, cholesterol, glucose, vision, dental health, and more. Free massages, healthcare enrollment info, a Carter Blood Drive, and other health and safety info will also be offered. The Fitness portion of the Fair will be held at the Saigling House in the northwest corner of Haggard Park, also from 10am to 1pm, and will feature fun and energetic demos of kickboxing, Zumba, Bollywood dance, martial arts, and more. The Fair is being held in partnership with the Plano ISD Education Foundation.
