Celebrate Oktoberfest Plano-style in the Downtown Plano Arts District! The Historic Downtown Plano Association is hosting the fourth annual Steinfest on Friday, October 19 from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Saturday, October 20 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. in Haggard Park. Steinfest is Plano’s free, family-friendly, Oktoberfest-style event that has been a community hit since 2015.

The festival celebrates beer, food, and German culture; the Steinfest 2018 beer sponsor is Karbach Brewing Company. This year’s festival will feature a Marktplatz of craftsmen and artisans, a variety of classic Oktoberfest competitions, a Kiddie Play Patch, a game center, live music, and the Whole Foods Market VIP Bier Garden and Lounge.

“The Steinfest stage will be packed with entertainment both days of the festival,” said Alex Hargis, Executive Director of the Historic Downtown Plano Association. “We are excited to welcome back fan-favorites like the Flying Balalaika Brothers, as well as traditional German acts like Frohsinn Kapelle.”

The annual Wiener Dog Fashion Show is another favorite among Steinfest attendees. Open to all breeds of dogs, the fashion show will take place on October 20 at 11 a.m. Other contests at the festival will include brat eating, stein racing, the strong man, and the first annual Kids Yodeling Competition.

“Bring the whole family out to Steinfest this year,” said Jeff Bergus, President of the Historic Downtown Plano Association and owner of Lockhart Smokehouse. “Along with the yodeling competition on the main stage, there will be plenty of activities for the kiddos in the Kiddie Play Patch, like the petting zoo, bounce houses, crafts, and more.”

Ten-dollar wristbands are required for entrance into the Kiddie Play Patch. While Steinfest is free admission, attendees need coupons to purchase food and beverages. Coupons and wristbands can be purchased during the festival at the ticket booth.

This year, several Steinfest ticket packages are available for purchase online, including a Food Lover’s package, a Dogtober Package, the VIP package, and more. The Steinfest VIP Package includes twenty food and beverage coupons, a commemorative stein, one beer token, and access to the Whole Foods Market VIP Bier Garden and Lounge with a private bar and complimentary snacks.
