Del Frisco’s Restaurant Group will launch their 3rd Annual 5K on October 29 to benefit CitySquare, a nonprofit battling poverty and hunger in Dallas.

Del Frisco’s Restaurant Group Inc. began with a successful inaugural race back in October 2014. During this family-friendly 5K, Del Frisco’s employees and community members can run or walk on a five-kilometer racecourse along the beautiful Katy Trail in Uptown Dallas. The race will start and finish at the new Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steak House in Uptown at McKinney & Olive.

This year will also feature a VIP pre and post-race party at the new Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steak House Uptown. A ticket to the party includes entry to the race, breakfast and drinks such as mimosas and Bloody Mary’s. If you run an adult-timed 5K with an official race T-shit and swag bag, you will also be invited to attend the pre-race party.

“Del Frisco’s is thrilled to once again show our support for our North Texas community and bring the race to Dallas,” said Sherry Joseph, Director of National Sales. “Not only does this special event allow our six Dallas-Fort Worth restaurants to collaborate, but it enables the entire community to draw together in a fun and interactive way for a great cause. As we move our Del Frisco’s Double Eagle to Uptown this fall we are excited to help our new neighbors at CitySquare improve the lives of others who most need our help in this city.”

CitySquare provides powerful support to those living in poverty in the Dallas area and have programs for the homeless in the community. Their core values are community, faith, justice and stewardship, and CitySquare battles poverty through service advocacy and friendships through its many partners and programs. City Square will have a miniature replica on display of the house they are building, made possible by a portion of the race proceeds.

The race has grown since its 2014 inception. In 2014, some 700 runners and walkers signed up for the event and in 2015 there were over 1,000. This year, Del Frisco’s is aiming for 2,000+ registrations, upping the competition, the donations and the fun. Runners and walkers of all ages are welcome.

The Del Frisco’s 5K Walk and Run includes a 5K run and 1 mile kids’ fun run on a USATF certified course. Late registration begins at 7:30 AM and the 5K run will begin at 9 AM. The 5K will be timed using state-of-the-art ChronoTrack timing systems. The ChronoTrack system uses a disposable tag, called a D-Tag, allowing runners to walk away from the finish without needing to return tags. Trophies will be awarded to the top male and female finishers and to the top three male and female runners in all age groups.

Registration for the run is now open!
