Plano students are semifinalists in the national Broadcom MASTERS competition

We’re #PlanoProud of nine middle school students who are representing Plano in the Broadcom MASTERS national middle school science and engineering competition! The Society for Science & the Public and Broadcom Foundation has chosen these students as top 300 semifinalists in the Broadcom MASTERS national middle school competition. They were selected for this honor from a pool of 2,343 entrants and more than 6,000 nominees from affiliated science fairs across the United States.

Our Plano representatives are: Anthony Mellone, Rice Middle School; Pranav Nathan, Rice Middle School; Rohan Chhaya, Schimelpfenig Middle School; Nabil Sikora, Rice Middle School; Yash Garg, Rice Middle School; Manasi Gummaraju, Rice Middle School; Maansi Srinivasan, Robinson Middle School; Andrei Spiride, Rice Middle School; Khushi Thakkar, Rice Middle School.

On September 20, 30 finalists will be selected from the 300 semifinalists. Finalists and one parent or guardian will receive $500 each and an all-expense paid trip to Washington, DC to attend the Broadcom MASTERS Finals Week competition from October 27 to November 2, 2016. Finalists will present their research and compete in hands-on challenges for top prizes, including funds to attend a STEM summer camp, iPads, and the Samueli Prize of $25,000.
