September 2016 issue

Fall colors are upon us! Of course, in Plano, fall colors mean hot air balloons on the horizon. Our September issue traditionally features the balloon festival and this year is no exception. We met some of the pilots that fly every year in Plano’s most famous festival and took a look at some of the balloons that will soar this month in Taking to the Skies.

Our cover features a stunning depiction of the Plano balloon festival by local artist Steve Ureigas. He opens up about his inspiration in A New Angle of Expressionism, where readers will also discover more of his work, as well as some local galleries where his paintings are on display.

We also had the pleasure of meeting with Plano Mayor Harry LaRosiliere, who is passionate about serving our city and is on a mission to provide a bright future for our children. Read about his plans for Plano 3.0 in Mission Possible. We think national politicians could learn a thing or two from him.

Any sports fans out there? Prepare for football season by discovering how Plano East alumnus Jake Brendel is living his dream with the Dallas Cowboys.

It might be football season, but it’s also allergy season. If you’re under the weather, not to worry! From general practitioners to dentists, surgeons and more, our September issue is full of  Plano’s Premier Physicians.

Our style section is huge this month! Meet the featured designer for the upcoming Hope’s Door Luncheon, Abi Ferrin, and learn about the fight to end domestic violence. Then, see the photos from our recent Fall Fashion event with Neiman Marcus at the Shops at Willow Bend.

Speaking of fashion, NOAH’S Event Venue has a brilliant way to recycle used table clothes and other materials into amazing clothes and costumes for young children. Discover The Making of a Superhero.

No good read is complete without a Food & Drink section, particularly with Plano’s mouthwatering selection of restaurants. Check out the booming culinary scene at the Shops at Legacy, and savor a Plano restaurant with the Dining Divas. Then, find the Hidden Gem that serves up possibly the most authentic Chinese food found outside of China. If that makes you hungry, go Nuts for Nuts with some healthy new recipes, and of course, balance that out with The Dish on all things fried.
