Today, Plano tested positive for the first time in 2016 for the West Nile Virus. The mosquito pool with the positive tests were found at the 1300 block of Berkley Court, near Legacy Drive and Alma Drive. City of Plano crews will be spraying the area starting at 9 p.m. Thursday, July 21. This year has not produced any human cases of West Nile.

The City’s Environmental Health Department urges citizens to stay inside during the spraying, along with any pets or animals.  Please also remember the common prevention practice of the 4 D’s:

  • Drain standing water.
  • Use repellent with Deet during outdoor activities.
  • Dress appropriately.
  • Use extra caution at dawn and dusk.
