The Junior League of Collin County (JLCC) Community Grants program supports collaborative programs that have significant impact on the Collin County community and align with the JLCC mission and focus. This year, 13 Collin County nonprofit organizations were selected to receive funding to support their proposed programs, ranging from providing resources for survivors of family violence, support for low-income families and seniors, education and enrichment programs, children’s health and more. Agencies were honored at a check presentation and reception in June of 2016.
The Community Grant selection process is an opportunity to demonstrate the power of collaboration among nonprofit service providers. JLCC is able to combine financial resources, member volunteer hours and its leadership to support the most critical needs in Collin County. JLCC provides ongoing support in the form of an advisory role, nonprofit management education, volunteer support and amplifying the awareness for the issue area.
The 2016 Junior League of Collin County Community Grant Award selections are as follows:
Collin County Committee on Aging, Inc.
Funding will provide fruit bags to serve as a supplemental nutrition source for clients that are most nutritionally at risk.
Family Promise of Collin County
Support the agency to provide a place for families to stay for up to 120 days while they get back on their feet and secure some sustainability. Specifically, funds will go towards the purchasing of air mattresses for the homeless.
Collin County Adult Clinic
Funds will be used to establish a laboratory service line for the patients. Money from this grant will be used to purchase equipment and testing supplies associated with an onsite clinic laboratory.
Wellness Center Committee on Aging
Funds will be used to support health care services program for seniors and specifically to support the agency’s health educational series
Emily’s Place, Inc.
Provides operational support for the transitional housing program for women and children who are victims of domestic violence.
Assistance League for Greater Collin County
Funds will be used to provide 2 pairs of jeans, 2 shirts, 1 sweatshirt, 1 jacket, 6 underwear briefs, 6 pair of socks, a dental hygiene kit, hairbrush and comb to each child supported by the agency.
Hope’s Door, Inc.
Support the Survivor Education Program, which uses standardized pre- and post- tests, curriculum and supplies to educate clients.
Communities in Schools of the Dallas Region
The project supports 17 school campuses in Plano and McKinney. Funds will be used to provide additional tutoring, parenting education and basic needs purchases year round.
Plano ISD Education Foundation
Support for the 5th Grade Outdoor Learning Camp, which is a three-day experiential science and social studies camp.
Assistance Center of Collin County
Funds will be used to expand their Family Stabilization rental assistance initiative, which is a three tier approach: Stabilize the home, engage in family and support the family in their transition to economic stability.
Community Lifeline Center
Support for an expanded facility housing both CLC and Baby Booties.
Hendrick Scholarship Foundation
Grant funds will be used to support scholarships for students from Plano ISD high schools that are attending Collin College or other state schools. Recipients receive tutoring, college/career coaching and financial skills training.
McKinney Rotary Foundation
Funds will be used to help establish an all-abilities playground at Bonnie Wenk Park in McKinney.

Community impact is defined by several means: outreach and support of over 110 local agencies, community projects, Community Grants, nonprofit management education and professional resources and most importantly thousands of hours of volunteer service each year.

The Junior League of Collin County is an organization of women committed to promoting volunteerism, developing the potential of women, and improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers.
