The weekend of May 6–7 marked the 7th Annual Emmitt Smith Celebrity Invitational. A Friday night party started off the two-day charity event with 1,000 attendees, including sports and entertainment celebrities, such as Daryl Johnston and Marcus Allen. Daughtry entertained guests while they ate dinner and engaged in raffles, and Dr. Phil and Robin McGraw were honored for their exceptional work with women and children around the country. The $1.2 million raised that evening benefited Pat and Emmitt Smith Charities, a nonprofit that creates and funds educational and enrichment opportunities for undeserved kids.

A celebrity golf tournament was held that Saturday at TPC at Craig Ranch in McKinney. The tournament winners were former Vikings Pro Football Hall of Fame defensive tackle John Randle and locals Craig McCoy, Kevin Boys and Craig Hill.
