The North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD) provides essential water, wastewater and solid waste disposal services to more than 1.6 million residents across 10 counties, including Collin County. Below are a couple upcoming services that you should know about.

28-day chlorine maintenance:

Every year, NTMWD performs chlorine maintenance prior to the warm months of the year. This year’s maintenance of the water transmission systems and customers’ distribution systems will be from March 7–April 4. During this period, consumers who are sensitive to odor or taste changes in the water might notice a stronger smell or taste of chlorine. Not to worry though, it does not alter the quality of the drinking water provided to customers. NTMWD is following a requirement of testing chloramine residuals enforced by Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).

Costly water drips—fix them:

Fix a Leak Week reminds everyone to check their household fixtures and irrigation systems for leaks, before hot weather sets in Texas. March 14–20 repair expensive and annoying leaks around your home. This isn’t just a North Texas event either, it’s a nationwide week dedicated to leaks. Remember, leaks occur throughout the year; this week just brings extra attention to them!

Lucky for you, all North Texas Home Depot locations host repair workshops on Saturday, March 19. Learn how to replace leaky faucets, toilets and sprinkler heads.

Home Depot schedule:

  • 10–10:40 a.m. – Repair/replace leaking faucets
  • 10:40–11:20 a.m. – Repair/replace leaking toilets
  • 11:20 a.m.–12 p.m. – Repair/replace sprinkler heads
