The 7th Annual Emmitt Smith Celebrity Invitational (ESCI) was hosted by Emmitt and his wife Pat at the gorgeous Preston Hollow home of Lisa and Steve Lieberman in mid-January.

The Invitational weekend is a two-day charity event that supports the nonprofit organization, Pat and Emmitt Smith Charities (PESC), that creates and funds unique educational experiences and enrichment opportunities for undeserved children. PESC’s TEAM 22 Program is included and provides long-term mentorship; one-of-a-kind enrichment experiences with business leaders, politicians, artists and athletes; a summer enrichment program; college tours; and access to a college education through scholarships.

ESCI has raised a total of $5 million since it began in 2010, and is excited to continue the journey of creating a better life for children in the DFW Metroplex. Four TEAM 22 participants shared their life-altering experiences with kickoff party guests whom they were given through TEAM 22. The exciting news of one of the first program graduate’s acceptance letter to Duke University in fall of 2016 was also revealed.

At the kickoff party, the Smith’s announced honorary chairs LeeAnn and Alan White, as well as event chairs Carmen and Thomas Surgent, and noted their gratitude for all event sponsors who graciously spent their time and resources to create another successful ESCI event. The theme 007 was also announced in honor of the event’s seventh anniversary. Surprise! Guests enjoyed an acoustic performance by country music star Billy Dawson who flew in from Nashville specifically for the event.

Friday, May 6 will commence the ESCI weekend of charity events with a VIP reception, celebrity red carpet, dinner, car raffle and live auction at the Omni Dallas Hotel. The next day, Saturday, May 7, an 18-hole charity golf tournament will be held at TPC Craig Ranch in McKinney. Cynthia Smoot from Gangway Advertising told Plano Profile, “The golf tournament is comprised of celebrity players and companies who got a foursome together through an event sponsorship of $25,000 or more. However, the general public is welcome to purchase $50 pavilion passes.” Similar to the Byron Nelson or Colonial, all are invited from 11 a.m.–3 p.m. to watch the tournament, enjoy live music, food and more. “Pat and I are thrilled to host this weekend-long fundraiser for the Pat & Emmitt Smith Charities. We are gratified by the continued support of our friends, family, colleagues and our ever generous corporate and community sponsors. It is a true labor of love for us, and we feel blessed by the opportunity to provide for undeserved children in our community,” said Emmitt at the kickoff party.
