Come join in the fun! For the 38th consecutive year, the Heard Natural Science Museum & Wildlife Sanctuary in McKinney is sponsoring its annual nature photography contest with images being accepted February 3 through March 20. The all-digital contest (no printing, mounting or delivery!) is open to photographers of all ages and all experience levels (beginners through professionals) with Youth-Junior (up to age 14), Youth-Senior (15-18) and Adult Beginner/Intermediate and Adult Advanced divisions.

Heard Nature Photographers Club organizes and administers the contest with all proceeds benefiting the Heard Natural Science Museum & Wildlife Sanctuary whose purpose is education, conservation, and preservation in order to enhance an appreciation of nature and its conservation through education.

Categories include Animals (captive & wild), Birds, Creative Interpretation, Floral & Still life in Nature, Insects & Arachnids, Scenics, Waterscapes and Natural Artistic Abstractions in Nature. (Youth categories differ somewhat from the Adult categories).

Ribbons are awarded in all divisions for Best of Show, 1st, 2nd and 3rd Places at the award ceremony scheduled for Sunday, April 10 at the Museum. Winners names and images will be posted on the website on April 11 and these images will be shown in the Museum for the month following the contest. (The rights to all submitted images remains with the photographer).
