theatre britain plano dangerous obsession n j crisp

As a “Brit abroad,” Theatre Britain is one of my very favorite things about Plano! This local theatre group do an outstanding job performing some of Britain’s best plays and they’re even remarkably talented at doing the accent—they almost make me feel like an imposter!

In December, Theatre Britain blew it out of the park with their performance of the panto King Arthur, and now they’re opening their 2016 season with a thriller—Dangerous Obsession by N J Crisp. I for one cannot wait to see it.

Dangerous Obsession by N J Crisp will open at 8 p.m. on Friday, February 12, 2016 at the Cox Building Playhouse in Plano. The play will run through to February 28, with performances on Fridays at 8 p.m., Saturdays at 2:30 p.m. & 8 p.m., Sundays at 2:30 p.m., and an additional “pay what you can preview” on Thursday, February 11, 2016 at 8 p.m.

Dangerous Obsession

Dangerous Obsession is an intriguing psychological thriller. One afternoon, a mild-mannered stranger turns up at the Driscoll house. Gradually, Sally and Mark Driscoll realize that John Barrett is more dangerous than he looks!

It was a hit in the UK press…

“ … the audience dared not cough for fear of missing the next turn of the screw.” The Times, UK

” … the plot has so many surprises that each new revelation … turned up like unexpected hidden cards in a poker game.” London Evening Standard, UK.

N J Crisp (1923-2005) was a prolific writer for television as well a novelist and dramatist. He is best known in Britain as the author of scripts for the classic BBC television series Dixon of Dock Green, Colditz and Secret Army.

Directed by Cynthia Hestand, Dangerous Obsession features Robert San Juan, Stacy Ann Strang and Walt Threlkeld. Set design by Darryl P Clement, lighting design by Jason Lynch, costume design by Shanna Gobin, wigs and hair by Don Hall, properties design by Joey Dietz and with original music by Aaron Fryklund.
