An important citizenship workshop will be held at the Sockwell Center in Plano at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 30. Non-citizens can learn vital information on applying for U.S. citizenship, including who can apply, how to apply, when to apply and the benefits of citizenship.

Speakers will discuss an array of important topics. The U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service will describe their policies. The Federal Bureau of Investigation will discuss background checks. Attendees will be given information on English as a second language providers in the area and citizenship courses offered by nonprofit organizations. Other participants include immigration attorneys who speak many languages such as Spanish, Chinese and Arabic. Attendees can receive assistance from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and attorneys for filing citizenship applications.
