For the first time, the Plano ISD Education Foundation teamed up with the Texas Legends who hosted a Plano ISD Night, sponsored by Strayer University’s Jack Welch Management Institute (JWMI). Promoted through Parent-Teacher Associations (PTA) on school campuses, social media, and word of mouth, almost 450 people attended a Texas Legends basketball game to support their schools. Ticket prices were $10 and the proceeds benefited the Plano ISD PTA and the Plano ISD Education Foundation.

The Plano ISD students had a great time! Barron Elementary students were anthem buddies and got to be on the basketball court with the players during the pregame; PISD students were high fivers as the players ran out of the tunnel; and Clark High School’s Choir performed the National Anthem and “God Bless America.” During halftime, Plano Senior High School’s Drill Team, the Planoettes, performed their routine to pump up the crowd. It seemed to have worked as the Texas Legends, with a first half deficit, fought back in the second half to beat the Oklahoma City Blue 102-86.

Plano families had a great time at the first annual PISD Night! The Education Foundation is excited to have partnered with the Texas Legends and Strayer University’s JWMI. What a wonderful way to showcase Plano students and their talents as well as provide a fun night for our families.
