As more and more corporations relocate home and regional offices to Plano, the population reflects a growing diverse international flavor. Employees and families bring traditions and long for flavors of their homeland. For that satisfaction, many open restaurants here. This enhances the fabric of the North Texas region.

In fact, this is the story behind Old Town Food Factory. Sajid Jaafri, Old Town’s CEO, and his partner, Hussain Kedwaii, President, are both transplants to Texas. The later opened the highly successful Old Town Creamery in Plano six years ago. Business contacts brought the two together and they decided to open a combined ethnic food and ice cream restaurant almost four months ago. They just recently celebrated their ribbon cutting with the Plano Chamber of Commerce on October 15.

Their diverse menu includes: New York style Greek Gyros, Middle Eastern Kabobs and Falafel, Indian and Pakistani Boti and Murgh Chana, a savory chicken cooked with chickpeas in hot and spicy curry. A Tilapia filet, rice and vegetables is another option. Most of the above include plate choices, wrap versions and side dishes. To promote healthy eating, salad is provided with all meats. Rice, Naan or pitta bread are offered à la carte. Currently, kids are offered chicken nuggets and fries with hamburgers coming soon.

Be sure to leave room for the wonderful handmade ice cream. Old Town Creamery Ice Cream has been honored with twice gracing the front cover of D Magazine. At any one time, there are about 28 flavors offered of the 100+ flavors. Ice Cream can also be packaged to go.
