PepsiCo lends a helping hand to Children's Advocacy Center

The sixth annual PepsiCo United Way Day of Caring took place on Thursday October 22. The largest corporate “United Way Day of Caring” event in North Texas, some 1,300 employees, took part in various activities across the Dallas – Fort Worth Metroplex in support of more than a dozen local United Way agencies.

Among the organizations visited by the volunteers was the Children’s Advocacy Center of Collin County, a private 501 (c) 3 organization which provides safety, healing and justice for child victims of abuse.

At the Children’s Advocacy Center of Collin County, the volunteers took a tour of the facility, and got to know the organization, before getting down to work. Among their tasks was helping organize the “Rainbow Room” [image top], the centers clothing storage which is currently being restocked with warm clothes for winter.

PepsiCo United Way Day of Caring event

An estimated 1,300 PepsiCo and Frito-Lay associates contributed 5,000 volunteer hours in a single day to dozens of North Texas United Way agencies. This brings the total collective volunteer hours contributed through PepsiCo United Way Day of Caring events over the last five years to more than 25,000.

Volunteers took part in projects that include organizing donations, providing landscaping and facility maintenance, and conducting physical fitness activities with underprivileged students. All of the projects were designed to align with United Way’s focus on improving three specific areas: education, financial stability, and health and wellness.
