UPDATE: Due to inclement weather (rain is forecast), the Donor Dunk Challenge has been rescheduled to Thursday, October 29th from 9:00am – 1:00pm. We hope to see you there!

My Possibilities (MP), a nonprofit organization in Plano, Texas, was created to courageously and relentlessly fill an educational void. They provide continuing education and vocational training for adults with disabilities with a wide range of diagnoses including Autism, Down Syndrome, Asperger Syndrome, Prader-Willi Syndrome, head injuries, neurological disorders, among others. The individuals that attend MP are lovingly referred to as HIPsters – Hugely Important People.

A passionate and qualified staff provide education and therapy to more than 175 HIPsters every day and nearly 350 each week. Today, My Possibilities is considered a leader in the local community and throughout North Texas providing vocational training, socialization opportunities and independent living skills development for adults with disabilities.

With minimal funding available, My Possibilities has to raise substantial funds in order to just cover current operating costs for the program. Each year they participate in North Texas Giving Day, an online giving event hosted by Communities Foundation of Texas. Over 2,000 eligible non-profits from the DFW Metroplex participate, and this year a total of over thirty-three million dollars in donations was raised to support these organization’s efforts to make our community a better place.

With 430 individual donors, My Possibilities was able to raise over $125,000 on North Texas Giving Day to continue providing a quality education to their adults with cognitive disabilities. All thirteen HIPster teams participated in a variety of Giving Day-inspired events, staff set up in the conference room armed with Wi-Fi and cell-phones, and their online followers were persistent in sharing their message. Whether it be with a bake sale, a collaborative HIPster-handmade painting, or even a music video, everyone in the building and beyond had one mission: to raise both awareness and critical funds to support the mission of My Possibilities and the HIPsters.

Reaching $125,000 was anything but an easy task. However, with a series of online challenges to their fans, MP was able to do it! One of the challenges given to their online community was to raise $100,000 on North Texas Giving Day and as a result, Charmaine Solomon, Co-founder & Chairman of the Board, and Michael Thomas, Executive Director, would get into a carnival-style water dunk tank…

With the goal of $100,000 met, MP is inviting all of their North Texas Giving Day donors and the community to join them at Donor Dunk Day. Come join the fun and meet the individuals that make this organization so special!
