The Jim Utley Foundation, a Texas-based 501(c)3 non-profit, who fights to “help kids live drug free”, has created a new youth scholarship fund, and has partnered with the Plano Sports Authority (PSA) in doing so.

Rebecca Baker, Founder and President of The Jim Utley Foundation lost her brother, Jim Utley of Plano, in 2006, because of Methamphetamine. “Our goal is always to help youth discover how to lead a full and rewarding life without the use of drugs. My younger brother struggled with addiction and balance his whole life,” said Baker. “The JUF Scholarship Fund will not be traditional in that it will offer help paying for sports and other extracurricular activities as well as academics.”

Partnering with the Plano Sports Authority (PSA), the Jim Utley Foundation aims to provide families who qualify with youth summer sports camps. “We are looking to partner with other organizations as well,” said Baker. “Our plan is that the scholarship fund will also help those youth in-need of rehab and/or drug and alcohol counseling and possibly support youth who successfully completed that type of treatment and want to go to college but can’t afford it fully.”
