On Thursday October 1st, Plano celebrated the start of the new month in the best possible way – with yet another accolade to add to the ever-expanding list. The American Planning Association (APA) named Historic Downtown Plano one of four Great Neighborhoods on the organization’s annual Great Places in America list.

The announcement was celebrated in the heart of Downtown Place, Haggard Park, where members of the city council joined local business owners and residents to mark the occasion.

In attendance to receive the recognition from Ann Bagley of the American Planning Association (APA) national board, was Mayor Harry LaRosiliere. “Downtown Plano represents the best of Plano,” he said, adding that “When it comes to downtown Plano, believe the hype.”

And believe the hype we most certainly do. Downtown Plano is an eclectic and charming mix of past and present, a truly GREAT neighborhood with restaurants, bars, shops, a park, the DART and even cultural destinations such as the Courtyard Theater and the Interurban Museum all within walking distance.
